Commercial Invoice Necessary for clearing all international shipments through customs.
Shipper’s Export Declaration (SED)
A Shipper’s Export Declaration is required when:
- - Any single commodity in a shipment leaving the United States has a declared value greater than U.S. $2,500, excluding most shipments to Canada.
- - A shipment requires an export license.
- - You have nondocument shipments to certain Eastern European or Asian countries, regardless of value.
Certificate of Origin
Presented to customs upon importation to authenticate the national origin of the merchandise.
Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods
To be completed and signed only by the shipper. Two originals must be attached to the master airway bill.

NAFTA Certificate of Origin
Required to verify originating goods imported into the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Proforma Invoice
Provided by a supplier prior to the actual shipment of merchandise for the purpose of documenting the cost of the merchandise being sold, as well as detailing charges such as freight and insurance. Often used by the potential purchaser when applying for a letter of credit, import license or foreign exchange allocation.
